Sunset Storm at Crawley Edge Boatshed

Crawley boatshed is one of Perth’s most iconic locations and I’ve spent many long hours waiting for the perfect conditions to capture the various photographs I'd envisaged. On a stormy late spring evening, I was  able to capture a photograph on this rarest of occasions when all the elements came together at once.

Some of the most incredible light I've ever witnessed turned the sky a  vivid shade of pink, offering a perfect contrast to subtler shades of clear violet sky and the the deep blue of the boatshed. As a storm raged in the distance, I was able to capture a bolt of lightning dissecting the sky in the centre of the frame. To complete the drama and give the image a perfect balance, for a brief moment, the very last rays of sunlight shone through the cloud, resulting in a rare pink rainbow appearing over the horizon.
